One year ago today I had my life saving 12 hour surgery. I'm not a surgeon so this is as best as I can explain what happened to me. I had a tumor in my bile duct called a Klatskin Tumor and it was removed. Also removed was part of my liver, my gallbladder, and my bile ducts were rebuilt with part of my small intestine. If Dr Kerri Ann Simo hadn't been able to accomplish all this during that 12 hour surgery I might not be here today. I was only given six months to a year with no surgery. Thank you Dr Simo!!
Thank you to everyone who kept my mom company in the waiting room that day. Thanks to those who were there in body and spirit. I can only imagine what a long difficult day it must have been.
I'm very grateful to still be here. Even writing that seems strange but It has been a crazy year. I truely take it one day at a time and today I'm feeling pretty good. Now I need to get better at posting on the days I don't feel so hot. This blog has been a therapeutic tool for me and I need to keep it up because it helps keep me up and positive.
