Day 466

As promised more Art Prize pics. The above was a cool installation in the B.O.B. parking lot.
Breathe was beautiful and amazing installation of potted plants that  stretched around to the right. The parking lot had plenty of art you could take selfies with.

B.O.B. Stands for Big Ole Building, which we loved. It had like seven venues in it, 3- 4 restaurants, a sports bar and comedy club and Art Prize art displayed through out.

Here is the old part of the Amway Plaza.
And our favorite couch to sit and rest.

These were fun to figure out.

If you look closely at Einsteins hair you see mathematical equations.

We had fun posing with some of the sculpture installed around town.

You can walk inside this sculpture and look up to this view.

I loved this castle made of license plates and guarded by soldiers made of kitchen cutlery and pans. This installation was inspired by a story, the artist, a father used to read to his daughter.

On one side this urban beast faces off against a dragon on the other side of the castle.

You may be wondering what won the Grand a Prize this year. It was an installation called Intersections, by Anila Quayyum Agha. installed at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, The Gram, to all the cool kids. The entire room is painted white, with the laser cut 6.5 foot square black box hanging in the middle of the room. The singular light bulb spills the design all over the white room. When you walked into the room it took your breath away and it was very soothing at the same time.
It was spectacular and mom and I both wanted it to win. She won the  $200,000 in the public vote and for the first time the Jurors agreed but they split the money giving her $100,000. Wow that is life changing.

Tomorrow I will share our visit to Meijer Sculptue Gardens, where we went on our last day.
