I went up to Manistee, MI for the weekend with my stepmom Cindy to celebrate her birthday. We also went for the Victorian Sleighbell Parade & Old Christmas Weekend. There were thousands of people in Manistee for the events. The best part of the parade was the big finale which is the arrival of the town Christmas tree hauled by four huge horses.
After it passes everyone follows it down the street to it's final destination and waits for it to be lit. It was very nice.
HEALTH UPDATE
Last week I had my first three month CT scan and then met with my oncologist, Dr. Kazunic, to get the results. I'm very happy to report that the scan showed no sign of recurrence of the cancer! This is rare with cholangio carcinoma, which is very aggressive and doesn't respond well to chemo. He had told us earlier that there had been some good results with the combined chemo and radiation they used on me, and he was very pleased to report the scan results. It is excellent news, especially just before Christmas!
My next scan will be in four (or possibly six) months.
He did warn me that the extensive surgery, done a year ago to remove the tumor and rebuild my biliary tree, is still causing some nausea and discomfort which may never completely go away. I'll just have to live with that, but it has gradually improved. Although I'm still having some bad days, they are fewer. I need to work at being more active and exercise more. Today I had a lovely walk along Lake Michigan.
